At “TR” we dance on the outdoor
patio. There’s a wood floor, a
wonderful breeze of clear, clean,
fresh, south Florida air and a very traditional, relaxed
Miami atmosphere. On (most) first, third and fifth Sundays we
have traditional Contradances with live music. Every first Sunday we
host a caller’s open mic where anyone interested in trying their hand (and
voice) at calling is welcome call some dances.
On second Sundays, Contradance sounds a little different. That’s when we feature a wider
variety of music, traditional, Cajun, Celtic, Celtic fusion, electronkica, whatever we find
that has the right “feel” for the dance. We’re trying to capture the “Club” feel that’s becoming
especially popular with younger dancers. a part of achieving the club feel, we use DJ’d music.
Our DJ mixes music from the greatest bands available and makes it work for an especially high-
energy Contradance feel.
